UPS's global air hub at Louisville sorts packages at a scale that is difficult to picture, and it feeds on truck freight arriving and leaving on a schedule that does not flex. Amazon Air's main hub at CVG opened in 2021 and does the same thing for a different network. If you want time definite work with a hard clock, this is the state for it.

Cars and bourbon

Toyota's plant in Georgetown is its largest in North America. Ford builds in Louisville and GM builds Corvettes in Bowling Green. That is a full just in time parts network on I-65 and I-75. Kentucky also produces the overwhelming majority of the world's bourbon, which moves as freight in its own right.

The Louisville interchange

I-65, I-64, and I-71 come together in Louisville, which makes it a top tier freight interchange and one of the busiest spots in the region. Coal still moves in the eastern part of the state. Between parcel, auto, and distribution, Kentucky offers a lot of options without a lot of miles between them.
