What counts as regional

Regional means a defined footprint, usually five to ten states, with runs of one to three nights out and home on the weekend. Southeast, Midwest, Northeast, and Texas are the classic patterns. You still live on the road during the week, but the road stays close enough that home time is a schedule instead of a promise.

Regional versus OTR, honestly

OTR driving pays for the weeks away. It runs the biggest miles and the biggest checks, and it asks for your calendar in return. Regional trades some of those miles for most weekends at home.

The check is usually somewhat smaller and the freight can be more repetitive. Drivers with people waiting on them tend to decide the difference pays for itself. If maximum miles matter more, the OTR page lays out that side of the deal.

Where regional freight concentrates

The Southeast runs dense regional networks along I-85 and I-75 between Atlanta, Charlotte, and Nashville. The Midwest triangle around Chicago, Columbus, and Kansas City moves manufacturing and distribution freight all week. In the Northeast, I-81 and I-95 carry grocery and retail on tight, drop heavy schedules. Texas is a regional market all by itself.

Experience levels we match

Regional fleets often want six to twelve months of experience, since the schedules are tighter and the customers more demanding than open road work. Plenty still take new CDL holders, especially in the Southeast and Midwest. Tell us where you are and we match you accordingly.
