Twin Falls and Idaho Falls are the anchors, and they generate steady outbound reefer freight year round rather than in a short seasonal burst.

The other Idaho industries

Micron in Boise makes memory chips, which is high value dry van work. Albertsons runs distribution from the Boise area. Up in the panhandle, timber puts flatbed on the road. It is a more varied freight base than the potato reputation suggests.

The corridors

I-84 is the main line, running from Portland through Boise and on toward Salt Lake City. I-15 crosses the eastern side north to Montana. I-90 clips the panhandle up north and is effectively a different market from the rest of the state.

Finding driving work in Idaho

If you run reefer, Idaho is worth a serious look. The processing plants at Twin Falls and Idaho Falls ship year round rather than seasonally, which means steadier miles than a harvest driven market gives you.

Boise is where the dry van and distribution work concentrates. The panhandle is effectively a separate market tied to Spokane. Decide which one you want before you apply, because they are hours apart and the jobs do not overlap.
